Guy Smith is a Managing Director with Stonehill Financial LLC, based in Boston, MA. Over the past 25 years, Guy has uniquely established his career across the spectrum of debt capital markets, corporate operations and management consulting. Guy’s experiences strengthen Stonehill’s capacity to provide our corporate clients with a complete set of business solutions to successfully manage through today’s complex and integrated world.
Select banking experience spans distressed debt, asset-based lending, leverage finance lending, commercial banking, and international trade finance and specifically includes:
- Managing Director of a hedge fund providing senior and junior secured debt to troubled companies
- Managing Director of Fleet Securities (now Bank of America) - providing capital markets products to large private equity funds
- Group Head for Fleet Business Credit Group and heading a national asset-based lending business
- Corporate Product Manager – Fleet Business Credit Group - managing asset-based lending business
- National Market Manager for First Chicago (now JP Morgan/Chase) managing national asset-based lending business which specialized in providing debt to troubled companies
- At First Chicago worked for five years in Commodities, Securities and Agribusiness lending businesses.

Select management consultant and corporate management experiences include profit and loss responsibility for companies in the metals, electronics, consumer products and business services industries.

- Served as Acting Group Head for a multi-plant Swiss-based, high tech, printed circuit board manufacturer.
- On behalf of a private equity firm, led the integration of management, operations and information systems of recently acquired companies in the consumer products industry.
- On behalf of a family owned multi-plant business in the metals processing industry, served as the Corporate VP of Finance and President.
- Held the position of President and COO of a venture capital backed start-up software products company in the consumer finance industry.
- For a number of years, owned and operated a multi-store retail/wholesale business in the consumer giftware industry.
Select corporate advisory experiences include mergers and acquisitions engagements, placement of debt, junior securities and equity, underwriting and placement of high yield debt, and going public transactions. These transactions ranged in size from the very small to as large as a $900 million, as Co-Lead Underwriter, Syndication and Collateral Agent along with two lead New York- based Investment Banks.
